I asked 50 Redskins fans to name their current favorite Redskin. So which player got the most votes?

A few days ago, I was doing something. Then, I started to not care about what I was doing, and elected to think about the Redskins instead (this happens all the time, by the way). And in doing so, I came up with this intriguing question: Who is THE Redskin player fans like the most on the current roster? Read More

Our own language: 10 words or phrases that mean something totally different to Redskins fans

The Redskins are one of the most unique teams in the NFL, and when I say that, I have no intention of making it sound like a compliment.

You see, I’ve been a hardcore fan of the Redskins for about ten years now, and I feel like I’ve already seen enough misery and embarrassment to last a lifetime. There’s NO WAY fans rooting for other teams around the league experience the things that Redskins fans experience, or else the league wouldn’t be anywhere near as popular as it is; every NFL fan would be extremely depressed and hate Sundays within about two seasons of watching if they felt what we felt each year.

Because being a Redskins fan is so dissimilar compared to being a fan of other NFL teams, I’ve noticed there’s a lot of words or phrases that mean one thing to normal NFL fans but mean something COMPLETELY different to Redskins fans. Read More

Handing out hardware at the halfway point: 11 Midseason awards being passed out to 11 Redskins players

The Redskins season is halfway through, and a season’s worth of stuff has already gone down.

The team has been through three QB’s, won a game by 31 and lost a game by 31, lost a bunch of key players to injury, seen a bunch of new faces play a lot of snaps, and overall been ridiculous, even by Redskins standards.

With eight games down and eight to go, it’s time to take a quick timeout (this is a well used timeout, not one used of out panic or confusion like Skins fans are used to) to hand out a bunch of midseason award to various players. Congrats to the winners (well most of them…as you’ll see, not EVERY award is a good one!) Read More

All-out blitz: A ton of random but relatable thoughts on Redskins-Eagles Week 3

Yesterday’s Eagles-Redskins game was the most insane Skins game I’ve watched in some time. Entertaining doesn’t even describe it. That. Game. Had. EVERYTHING. If that game was a bowl of Chipotle, it had white rice, yellow rice, fajita vegetables, black beans, pinto beans, chicken, steak, barbacoa, carnitas, corn, salsa, spicy salsa, salsa verde, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, and chips on the side.

The only thing it didn’t have was a win. And that sucks. Watching Cousins miss Garcon on that deep in route, after ALL THE ADVERSITY AND PENALTIES AND INJURIES AND CRAP this team overcame, was nothing short of devastating. I have so many thoughts on what took place yesterday that settling on a theme for a post game post would be harder for me than it is for the Redskins to make it through a game without making an egregious special teams error.

So, here it is, a page full of random bullet points. I’m calling it an all-out blitz of my thoughts and feelings after yesterday’s game. They’re all over the place, in no particular order, and about anything and everything; however, I have a feeling many Redskins fans will be able to relate to these, because watching a Redskins game is an experience like no other, and whether we like it or not, we’re in this together. Time to let the brain go wild. Read More
